Cribari Bridge Future Planning

The Connecticut Department of Transportation published a draft environmental assessment for the Saugatuck River Swing Bridge (Cribari Bridge) in Westport, exploring potential alternatives for rehabilitation or replacement of the historic structure. The 60-day public comment period closed in April 2026. CTDOT will hold planning meetings to discuss the bridge's future while considering its importance to Westport's history and Connecticut's transportation network. Those interested in obtaining ownership of the bridge for aesthetic, historic, recreation, or preservation uses were invited to submit letters of interest.
